Our Story

Lexi and Yasser's story began at George Mason University. Their sorority and fraternity were paired together for an event, where Lexi ended up teaching Yasser how to dance (although Yasser "claims" that he may have "dumbed down" his dance skills just to spend a little more time with her).

What followed impromptu dance practices were countless late nights, talking about everything and nothing at all, dancing to Frank Sinatra, and finally a first date (even though Lexi says she thought they were just hanging out "as friends") on a sunset-to-midnight stroll through the monuments of Washington, DC. 

The two quickly realized they had found something special. Just two months after making the relationship official on April 26, 2019, Yasser confidently told her he was going to marry her someday (Lexi... and Mr. Swager.... were not particularly thrilled to hear at the time).

Over the years, their relationship grew into a partnership built on friendship, laughter, and adventure. Whether traveling to new places, dancing in the kitchen, exploring new restaurants, or simply spending time together, they found that life's best moments were the ones they shared.
 

On December 19, 2024, at a bird and butterfly sanctuary in Bolivia, Yasser finally asked the question he had been waiting years to ask. With a nervous smile, he said, "I've been wanting to ask you this for a very long time. Will you marry me?" (Well... really all he got out was "will you-" before Lexi immediately said YES!)
 

Now, they look forward to celebrating their next chapter in Washington, DC—the city where they shared their first date, fell even more deeply in love, and where they will begin their forever together.
